Ohio Bag Tags

Way back when I first started making bags I decided that it would be really cute to add a tag as an accessory . A fun little extra that I could also use to sign my name, Mary Moon Designs.

The first ones I made where created from wood pieces that I bought at the store and decorated before adding to the bag. I didn't think they were large enough or unique enough so I was trying to come up with a better way to execute my plan. My husband offered to cut the wood tags out for me, but wanted to know what shape I wanted them in. Oval, square, circle ?
I was so busy creating the purses I couldn't think of a perfect shape to make them. I tossed around a few ideas. when I mentioned a tag in the shape of Ohio my husband said he really liked it. He commented, " You live in Ohio, you work in Ohio , your an Ohio artist. It kinda makes sense"

When customers are looking over my bags they always stop at the Ohio bag tag in the palm of their hand and comment on how much they love them.

This is a collage of my Ohio tags on a Ohio background that my husband put together

My husband had seen a call for entries for the Westerville Shutterbugs and decided to submit a photo. He had taken a cute pic of my daughter on a bike with a Mary Moon bag at the Westerville Community Center. That was back in early 2010, but his photo wasn't chosen for that years issue.
He just happened to see a copy of the July/August 2011 issue of the Westerville Magazine and flipped through the pages. To his surprise was the pick he had sent last year. The photo can be found on page 22 of the magazine.

My husband took these photos of my plush animals. He said that he thought the peppers made it look like my stuffies were in front of a piece made by Dale Chihuly.

It was so dang hot out last month !
I finally caved in about three weeks ago and turned the air conditioning on in the house . I prefer hot temperatures over cold any day but I had enough. Not only do we have a large family but they bring in friends and our home gets really hot. It was no longer tolerable and everyone was miserable so I knew it was time.
I was ready to turn the air back off this past week since it hasn't been quite as warm out. I heard nothing but protest from the family. "They like the air on"
I actually have been chilled and would prefer to open the windows back up.
So I set up a table along with some of my supplies and the sewing machine and have been working outside in the sun.

My crafty cat came out to join me one rainy day when I had to work in the garage. Although crafty cat is supposed to be indoors and should not be laying in the middle of my work. It was nice of him to visit :)
p

I bought a plastic storage container and filled it with sand and shells. When Little B comes over she can play while I work. She tells everyone she's at the beach and wants them to "go to the beach and play with her". I pull the beach into the garage when she's not at her Lolas house and put the cover on so it doesn't become a liter box.

I hope your having a great summer !
It sure is flying by.
