I wanted to thank everyone who attended my open house this week.I had a really nice time.I was a bit stressed out the days prior to the event though.I think it happens every December.
Not only was I trying to get my home ready, I had a show the previous weekend.I also spent quite a bit of time in front of my sewing machine this past week getting a few special orders done.Cleaning, decorating and setting up my display were also on my to-do list.
It was well worth the effort.
I had a great turnout and a great time.I got to visit with my friends (you know who you are, I had a few of my wonderful customers come that I haven't seen since summer and I met a couple really nice people :o)
Thank You to all.
Not only to the people who came to the open house but also to everyone who has encouraged me and complimented me over this past year.
Without your support I could not do what I do.
Thank You to all of the customers, shop owners, festival organizers, volunteers, friends(old and new),vendors, fellow artists and crafters.A special thanks to the staff who work the cutting table at Jo Anns! lol
And I can't forget my beautiful family for helping me.

This has been a rewarding and fantastic year ! ! !

I set up this last weekend at The Riverfront Art Festival. It was held at Genoa Park in Downtown Columbus.I had been working right up to the show, trying to get plenty of merchendise made.I was so happy when I set up my booth display and had enough to fill it all up with my colorful creations.
Check out my Panda bags. They are my Newest bag.Tons of people were giving compliments to them and my New Geisha Purses.
The last pic is of me putting out my New Zippy pouches with fun charectors.

My Husband J shared a booth Saturday at Independents' Day in downtown Columbus. He put out my Decorative Wall Hangings,my Awesome Guitars, hand made books and journals and of course my Bags,Purses and Zippys. He said the event brought a fun crowd.I took the walk up Broad Street to surprise my husband and to say Hi to all the vendors I knew there. It was really more my kind of crowd, I wished I could have stayed.

And then it rained on Sunday and washed the customers away :o(
It gave me a chance to walk around with my new umbrella.(My husband bought it for me on his way to the show) I spent time talking to other vendors, and we had alot to talk about.

We had a great time last Saturday.

We volunteered our time at the Crafty Cotillions Handmade Expo.It was held at the Fairgrounds during the Ohio State Fair.

We go to so many shows, festivals and events and see all kinds of people volunteering their time and skills. If your part of the event it's hard to help out and run your own booth. So we thought it would be nice to lend a hand.

We really enjoyed spending time and hanging out with fellow artist, peers and friends.
It was so much FUN and we all got these cute OHIO shirts for giving our time.We spent a few hours behind the info booth selling t-shirts,handing out posters /promo cards and giving vendors breaks.

I'm So Excited ! ! ! ! !
I was interviewed by staff writer Alex Froman while at the Lazy Daze of Summer Festival last weekend. He writes for the Grandview, This Week Community Newspaper.

I couldn't figure out how to link the article to my blog so here is my portion of what he wrote about the event.

Among the artists and craftmakers participating in this year's festival was Mary Maben, who designs and sells bags and purses through her Mary Moon Designs business.

"Each bag or purse I make has a one-of-a-kind design," Maben said. "I like experimenting, putting together colors and patterns that don't seem to make sense to people, but actually work well together."

Maben said she enjoys participating in festivals like Lazy Daze because of the chance to meet so many people.

"The most exciting thing to me is when I'm out and see someone carrying one of my bags or purses," she said. "It's so rewarding to think you're making something that people like and use."

More information about Maben's creations is available at marymoondesigns.etsy.com.

Pretty cool, Right ?

I will be back in Grandview this Saturday for The Grandview Hop.
I will be set up by the Arlington Bank from 5p.m. until 9 p.m.
Hope to see you there :o)

Crafty Cat is Back

I have been hard at work measuring, cutting and assembling all new bags and purses.
Not an easy task when I'm spending half the day watching my precious new grandbaby. The dog comes to stay the day with Lola Mary as well. She's a good pup as long as you don't leave her alone,AT ALL !!
But this pesky cat of mine thinks it needs to be right in the middle of my work.
Here is a pic of C.C. using my purse pattern as a personal pop up tent.
ARRGGG ! ! ! !

ARMED WITH AN IRON

Monday, March 30, 2009

This is the part of my job that I really don't care for.
I love to create.I love to shop for supplies.
I hate cleaning my art room.
I recently took a break from my sewing machine to condense and reorganize my space.
It took me over two days to get the job done.

My daughter couldn't believe I was getting rid of stuff.I threw out several bags of trash.I dropped off a van full of stuff at Goodwill and donated some supplies to my kids school.I also have some items that I plan to resale.

It was a lot of work and very stressful. My other daughter was there for me and hugged me and told me it would be alright.

and after all that work my room is well organized.
Only now I can't find anything :o)

I am very proud of what I accomplished.
